In his role as Whitfield County Attorney, Mr. Smalley has daily opportunities to help members of the public with “kitchen table” sorts of problems and issues involving their communities, tax assessments, as well as helping the public understand the various functions of their state, local, and federal governments and also how regular people can have an impact on their government.
Smalley was also appointed to serve as Liaison Counsel for the ConAgra peanut butter litigation currently pending in federal district court in Atlanta.
He was also involved in a leadership role dealing with the national litigation surrounding the Tri State Crematory disaster. Mr. Smalley estimates he has worked with over 500 of the victims in this case, and considers it one of his most noteworthy achievements.
He is also very active in the community, as a member of the PTA. He proudly supports Arts education programs in elementary education in Dalton, and has been a part of creating a program called, “Art Makes us Smart.” In addition to this and his PTA involvement, Robert Smalley serves the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce on the Legislative Action Committee.
