Stephen E. Palmer is a partner at Yavitch & Palmer, Co., LPA, and he focuses his legal practice on criminal defense law including DUI/OVI, drug crimes, white collar crime, domestic violence, traffic violations, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes throughout Ohio.

Biography: Stephen E. Palmer joined fellow Columbus native, Eric J. Yavitch in forming the law firm of Yavitch & Palmer in 1997. Steve focuses his practice on the following areas of Ohio criminal defense law: Domestic Violence; Driving While Intoxicated; Appellate Practice; White Collar Crime; Traffic Violations; Drug Crimes; Felonies; Homicide; Misdemeanors; Parole and Probation; and Sexual Assault. He regularly consults with other attorneys in areas of evidence, trial preparation and appellate practice.

Stephen Palmer is listed in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers comprised of select firms and attorneys who have earned the AV Peer Review Rating. An AV rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence, has usually practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity. Steve earned his AV rating at the uncommon age of 35.

Steve earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Capital University in 1995. While in law school, Steve began working in the criminal defense field as a clerk for practicing attorneys. He was a member of the Law Review and published an article detailing Ohio’s drinking and driving laws. After earning his law degree, Steve immediately formed his own firm in the field of criminal defense.

Professional organizations to which Steve belongs include the Columbus Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar and the American Bar Association (Member, Criminal Section). He also belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Aside from law, Steve enjoys numerous hobbies, including running, biking, carpentry, and guitar.
